I’ve been asked to be a speaker at the Des Moines Mom Blog Bloom Event tonight. With only 20 minutes to present to both new and expecting mothers, I wanted to share the ONE great thing that would make their lives easier with their new baby–Creating a Postpartum Plan for the first weeks of baby’s life.
As a postpartum doula, I hear all kinds of advice and opinions on what is best for babies. I get asked about baby calming techniques, sleep training, mother’s recovery, breastfeeding/formula feeding, and all kinds of other important decisions every day. As a newborn and new mother expert, it’s my job to share the FACTS rather than OPINIONS with new moms. Of course I have tips and tricks that I find helpful, but I want my clients to know that they are receiving the BEST information and care possible.
When I created this Postpartum Plan, I wanted new moms to feel a little more in control of their life with their baby. I wanted them to know that it is not only okay to ask for help, it is CRUCIAL that they receive help as they are resting and recovering from birth. I love helping new mothers have an easier postpartum. When parents feel supported, they are more likely to bond quicker with their baby, have an easier time breastfeeding, and are overall happier in their first few weeks as a new mom.
