New Parent Educator Trainings

Would you love to help new parents prepare for life with a baby? Join us for a New Parent Eductor Training designed to give you the best start to your new career! CAPPA New Parent Educators fill an important role in educating and supporting families and the community by providing comprehensive, evidence-based information. As respected professionals, CAPPA New Parent Educators work in public-health clinics, hospitals, care-providers’ offices, and private settings throughout the world.

What is A New Parent Educator?

New Parent Educators work with families during pregnancy and postpartum; offering support, encouragement, information, and referrals as needed. New Parent Educators can be found working in a variety of settings to offer their services to families. Families can find them working as public health educators, hospital/community educators, in care providers’ offices and in private practice as educators.

What is Included in This Training?

This training is the first step towards certification.  You do not need to have any prior experience or prerequisites–just a love of families and new babies! There are several other requirements that will be discussed in class to complete for certification, or you can also go to www.cappa.net for a full list of certification requirements. This unique opportunity will give you the education and skills necessary to support families through the transition to parenthood. Just some of the things you will learn include:

8:30am-6:30pm Two Days, either Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday depending on date and location–see side bar for upcoming dates.

Faculty

This training is taught by Katie Nyberg, CLD, CPD, CNPE. Katie is the CAPPA Senior Program Advisor for the Labor Doula Program and also contributes to the Postpartum Doula Training curriculum. Katie has been a certified labor and postpartum doula since 2010. She has served hundreds of women, partners, and babies through her work as a postpartum & labor doula, as well as teaching classes to the community and health care professionals. In this training, Katie shares a lot of helpful tips and tricks she’s learned as both a state-licensed teacher and new parent educator! Katie is a state-licensed educator whose trainings are full of interactive activities and discussions!

Fees & Times

Cost of Tuition:  $500; If you are registering less than 3 weeks prior to training, there will be a $50 late fee added. Scholarships are available. $100 deposit is required at the time of registration to reserve your seat in the training. The remaining balance is due before the training date. Times vary each training but typically run 8:30am-6:30pm. Details about breaks will be available prior to training. Evening trainings will have working dinners (please bring your own food).
